Jack Phillips| Lead Garden Educator

Jack started his work at TOG in the spring of 2020. He has a bachelor’s in Environmental Studies from the University of Vermont, as well as a certification in Permaculture Landscape Design. With this, Jack’s approach to the garden focuses not just on maximizing yields, but attempts to build soil biomass and increase beneficial pollinator populations. As a Compost Tea Team member, he relishes the role to expand peoples’ knowledge in food and gardening, as it can improve our relationship with the natural world tremendously.

His other interests within the field include companion plants, native prairies, and ecological successions in forests. Outside of work he enjoys cooking new recipes, reading, Chicago sports, and finding the best trees to nap underneath.
