Verdant Nolan | President

Verdant manages all day-to-day operations of The Organic Gardener, from overseeing each garden build in the field, to maintaining the team’s internal relations, to consulting with new clients throughout the season. His can-do positive energy and solutions-oriented thinking have been a driving force behind TOG’s development from the start.

Verdant has been growing food for as long as he can remember, beginning in his family’s backyard garden in Oak Park, Illinois. Dropping out of high school at age sixteen, he left home to live and work on a communal farm in Austin, Texas, where he stayed for ten years and met future wife, Jeanne. From there, Verdant traveled and farmed in South Africa, and then worked as an activist and organizer for non-profit Clean Water Action back in the States.

In 2005, Verdant returned to the Chicago area to join Jeanne in the early stages of forming TOG. Always with plenty on his plate, he also began pursuing a Bachelors of Science in Neuroscience at this time with the University of Illinois at Chicago. Today, Verdant lives on a little farm in Northbrook with Jeanne and family.
